The Tesla Roadster, the company's first vehicle, is the first production automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells and the first production EV with a range greater than 200 miles (320 km) per charge. The base model accelerates 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and, according to Tesla Motor's environmental analysis, is twice as energy efficient as the Toyota Prius. As of June 30 2011, Tesla had delivered more than 1,840 Roadsters in at least 30 countries. Tesla has said that it will produce a total serial production run of 2,400 Roadsters. Tesla began producing right-hand-drive Roadsters in early 2010 for the UK and Ireland markets, then expanded sales to right-hand-drive markets of Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Tesla Motors is developing the Model S, an all-electric family sedan. Tesla Motors unveiled the car March 26, 2009 with an expected base price of U.S. $ 57,400 (or U.S. $ 49,900, after a U.S. federal tax credit). Model S will have three options for battery autonomy of 300 miles (480 km) per charge. In July 2011, TeslaMotors took about 5,600 reservations for the Model S and expects to start delivering cars to customers in 2012.
Tesla Motors employs approximately 900 full-time employees and is aggressively recruiting employees for positions at its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, with European headquarters in Maidenhead, United Kingdom, and a growing number of plant sales agents throughout in North America and Europe. Tesla Motors plans to build Model S in 2012 in Fremont, California, in an assembly plant formerly operated by Nummi, a company now defunct joint between Toyota and General Motors.
Tesla Motors has taken an interest in the site in May 2010 for U.S. $ 42 million, and opened the establishment in October 2010 that the Tesla plant. - CAR REVIEW

The griffin emblem, which is still in use, is derived from the coat of arms of Falkes de Breauté, a mercenary soldier who was granted the Manor of Luton for services to King John in the thirteenth century. By marriage, he also gained the rights to an area near London, south of the Thames. The house he built, Fulk's Hall, became known in time as Vauxhall. Vauxhall Iron Works adopted this emblem from the coat of arms to emphasise its links to the local area. When Vauxhall Iron Works moved to Luton in 1905, the griffin emblem coincidentally returned to its ancestral home.

To expand, the company moved the majority of its production to Luton in 1905. Maruti Suzuki news august 2011, Indian consumers still confident | CAR SALES | Something curious is happening at Maruti Suzuki. 2011 has been cruel on India's largest carmaker - a crippling strike followed by plunging sales (25% down in July) has left the company and auto analysts reaching out for their seat belts. The company expects measly single-digit growth for the industry this year. At the same time, more and more people are actually walking into showrooms to actually check out new cars, says Mayank Pareek, executive marketing director Maruti Suzuki.
"This signals two things - sentiments are good and the intention to buy is intact but they are holding on to the purchase for interest rates or other reasons," says Pareek. "The consumption story is powerful and intact. Long-term bullishness remains."
Deep Kalra, CEO of Makemytrip.com, India's largest online travel portal, points out to the traveller numbers in the holiday-segment of the company's business. In the past two years, the number has more than doubled to 4,50,000. This season, Kashmir, says Kalra, had the best tourist season ever and there were no hotel rooms available for booking. India's domestic aviation traffic grew by 14 % in June - second only to Brazil (15.1%) globally. In Mumbai, the mood at the Future Group, the country's largest modern retailer, is equally upbeat. Damodar Mall, the group customer director, sees "growth coming in on the higher side".
This means that a woman who works Jyothi - plows AAM India and the equivalent of the American, Joe the plumber - is to keep the zipper in her purse open? Do you continue to spend on groceries, and splurge on shopping sprees for his shopping center, despite 11 rate hikes in the central bank over the last 18 months? Will he buy a small car that was going to buy more than two years, by the end of the year? Going Pareek Kalra and see what their business, it seems that the great Indian consumer is not used for power, although many of the macroeconomic data lose their charm. - CAR SALES

Westfield Sportscars | Car Review | Westfield Sportscars are manufacturers of both factory built and kit versions of several two-seater, open top sportscars. Their main product line is a Lotus Seven inspired car - vehicles originally designed by Colin Chapman with only the bare essentials for motoring in order to give the rawest and most exhilarating driving experience.
Whilst Caterham Cars bought the rights from Lotus Cars, Chris Smith set up a rival company and manufactured kits with very similar styling and construction. This led Caterham to threaten litigation (based on Industrial design rights) in the late 1980s which was eventually settled out of court and resulted in Westfield improving and changing the design of their cars. Whilst externally sharing a common look, Westfield and Caterham cars are somewhat different in construction. Westfield prefers to employ the same glass fibre body method that Lotus has traditionally used for their other models such as the Elise, Esprit, and Elan, rather than the aluminium used by Caterham.
Westfield has also pioneered technical innovations such as Independent rear suspension and a wider chassis, which other manufacturers have since adopted. The company has recently introduced a version of its SEi kit that uses donor parts from the Mazda Mx5 Miata. This is generally called an SDV (Single Donor Vehicle) kit. There is also an SDV kit that uses a Ford Sierra as a donor.
According to figures given to the magazine Total Kit Car, Westfield produces about 450 SEi and XTR chassis each year.
In the first series of BBC's Top Gear, a Westfield XTR2 driven by the black Stig set a faster lap time than the reigning record holder of that series, the Pagani Zonda.
In December 2006, Westfield became a part of Potenza Sports Cars Limited. In December 2007, it was announced that GTM Cars also became a part of Potenza Sports Cars. - CAR REVIEW

Hino | CAR REVIEW | Hino, or Hino Motors, Ltd., is a producer of diesel trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles, based in Hino, Tokyo, Japan. Hino Motors, Ltd., since 1973, has been the leading medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks manufacturer in Japan. It is a subsidiary of its holding company, Toyota Motor Corporation.
The Hino traces its roots back to the founding of Tokyo Gas Industry Company in 1910. In 1910 Chiyoda Gas Co. was established and competed fiercely against incumbent Tokyo Gas Company fighting for gas lighting users. Tokyo Gas Industry was a parts supplier for Chiyoda Gas but it was defeated and merged into Tokyo Gas in 1912. Losing her largest client, Tokyo Gas Industry Co. broadened their product line including electronic parts, and renamed herself as Tokyo Gas and Electric Industry, TG&E and was often abbreviated as Gasuden. It produced its first motor vehicle in 1917, the Model TGE "A-Type" truck. In 1937, TG&E merged its automobile division with that of Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. and Kyodo Kokusan K.K., to form Tokyo Automobile Industry Co., Ltd., with TG&E as a shareholder. Four years later, the company changed its name to Diesel Motor Industry Co., Ltd., which would eventually become Isuzu Motors Limited.
The following year (1942), the new entity of Hino Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. spun itself out from Diesel Motor Industry Co., Ltd., and the Hino name was born. Following the end of World War II, the company had to stop producing large diesel engines for marine applications, and with the signing of the treaty, the company dropped the "Heavy" from its name and formally concentrated on the heavy-duty trailer-trucks, buses and diesel engines markets, as Hino Industry Co., Ltd. The company took its name from the location of its headquarters in Hino city within Tokyo prefecture.
To sharpen its marketing focus to customers, in 1948, the company added the name "Diesel" to become Hino Diesel Industry Co., Ltd.
In 1953, Hino entered the private car market, by manufacturing Renaults under licence, and in 1961 it started building its own Contessa 900 sedan with an 893cc rear-mounted engine. The Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti redesigned the Contessa line in 1964 with a 1300cc rear-mounted engine. Fed by two SU type carburettors, this developed 60 hp (44 kW) in the sedan and 70 hp (51 kW) in the coupé version. However, Hino ceased private car production very quickly in 1967 after joining the Toyota group. The Contessa 900 and later the 1300 in 4 doors sedan were assembled in Israel at the Kaiser-Illin assembly plant in Haifa. They were produced between the years 1963 to 1967.
Hino Trucks are also assembled in The Republic of Ireland by J Harris on the Naas/Nangor Roads.
Hino’s drive is centred on a concept that it calls human engineering. Human engineering refers to the development of technical solutions to the unique challenges facing each customer. Hino trucks are engineered to make your working experience a safe, reliable and comfortable one.
HINO sets new industry quality standards with trucks that have become synonymous with durability, reliability and low cost of ownership. The Hino family of light-duty, medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks offer outstanding engineering, the latest technology, and safety and comfort features that make your work easier. - CAR REVIEW

Dodge CHallenger R/T, 1970 |
After establishing the company of Dodge Brothers by Horace and John Dodge in 1900, the company produced engine components and chassis of the vehicle. John Dodge in 1913 said that he no longer willing to only as "supplier" for Henry Ford, then in 1914 he and Horace agreed to make four-cylinder vehicles (Dodge Model 30). They made this car has all-steel body, while most other companies there are still elements of the wood. Besides the existing 12 volt electrical system, (cars with 6 volt electrical system was still existed until the 1950s) and a sliding-gear transmission. The company developed by the Dodge brothers were successful because of their good quality, and the company soon became the second largest company by sales in the U.S. market in 1916.
![]() |
Dodge Polara, 1966 |
By 1914, Horace had found a solution by creating the new four-cylinder Dodge Model 30. Marketed as a slightly more upscale competitor to the ubiquitous Ford Model T, it pioneered or made standard many features later taken for granted: all-steel body construction (the vast majority of cars worldwide still used wood-framing under steel panels, though Stoneleigh and BSA used steel bodies as early as 1911); 12-volt electrical system (6-volt systems would remain the norm until the 1950s); and sliding-gear transmission (the best-selling Model T would retain an antiquated planetary design until its demise in 1927). As a result of this, and the brothers' well-earned reputation for quality through the parts they made for other successful vehicles, Dodge Brothers cars were ranked at second place for U.S. sales as early as 1916. That same year, Henry Ford decided to stop paying stock dividends to finance the construction of his new River Rouge complex. This led the Dodges to file suit to protect their annual stock earnings of approximately one million dollars; this led Ford to buy out his shareholders, and the Dodges were paid some US$25 million.

The Dodge Brothers vehicles in 1916 also won acclaim for durability while in service with the U.S. Army's Pancho Villa Expedition into Mexico. A notable example was in May, when the Sixth Infantry received a reported sighting of Julio Cardenas, one of the most trusted subordinates Villa. Lieutenant George S. Patton led ten soldiers and two civilian guides in three Dodge Model 30 touring cars to conduct a raid on a ranch house in San Miguelito, Sonora. In the firefight the party killed the three men, one of whom was identified as Cardenas. Patton's men tied the body to escape hoods, back at headquarters in Dublán and enthusiastically of American journalists. - CAR REVIEW
