car_review-Volkswagen_CC-2011
Review: 2011 Volkswagen CC - The Volkswagen CC is a four-door coupe, a four-seat sedan with a sleek, low stance. It looks more expensive than it is. The Volkswagen CC, a Comfort Coupe, was launched as an all-new model for 2009 and carries through 2011 unchanged.

The interior design and materials are exceptional. The optional two-tone stitched leather bucket seats are downright Italian-like. The cabin feels racy due to the steeply raked windshield and distant dash. It's cozy inside and there isn't as much front legroom as in the Acura TSX, Nissan Maxima or Lexus IS. The rear bucket seats accommodate just two in cozy comfort with decent legroom but limited headroom. Cargo space is small for the class, comparable to that of the Lexus IS.

The Volkswagen CC is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 200 horsepower. We found it impressively powerful and amazingly smooth. It uses front-wheel drive and is available with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox. The 2011 Volkswagen CC with the 2.0-liter engine gets an EPA-estimated 22/31 mpg City/Highway on Premium fuel with the DSG, 21/31 mpg with the 6-speed manual. A Volkswagen CC Sport with the manual gearbox can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, the company says.

The Volkswagen CC VR6 4MOTION features the narrow-angle 3.6-liter V6 rated at 280 horsepower an 17/25 mpg. It comes with all-wheel drive. The 2011 Volkswagen CC VR6 4MOTION can accelerate from 0-60 in just 6.6 seconds, according to Volkswagen. The VR6 4MOTION is a pricey package, however.

We took the road turns smooth and solid, firm but not hard. This is not a high-performance sports car, but it is lighter than the maximum number, or the Lexus IS. The electromechanical steering make parking easier. The brakes work very well.

car_review-Mazda_CX-7-2011
Expert Review: 2011 Mazda CX-7 - The Mazda CX-7 is sporty, sleek and distinctive, yet functional, spacious and comfortable, with decent interior space and all the proper safety equipment. It is available with an agile four-cylinder turbo as the Kia Sportage SX or the Acura RDX, or a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine as the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4.

You will find the Mazda CX-7 is fun to drive, excellent stability at high speed and maneuverability. Mazda CX-7 shines curves, something known as the Mazda.

The Mazda CX-7 is in its fifth year, introduced for 2007 when crossovers (SUVs with the chassis of a car, not truck) were a new idea. They offer the SUV high seating position and cargo capacity, with the more agile steering and smoother ride of a car. Also, fuel mileage is better than with a heavier and boxier truck-based SUV. The CX-7 was revised for 2010, with increased body rigidity, stiffened dampers, and reduced noise, vibration and harshness. Inside, it got a new dashboard with electronic equipment upgrades. The biggest change for 2011 is a new model, the i Touring, which adds equipment to the base model with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder.

Under the hood is 2.5-liter engine making 161 horsepower and using a 5-speed automatic transmission. A 244-horsepower 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is also available, using a 6-speed automatic.

The base 2.5-liter engine is well matched to the Mazda CX-7, providing adequate acceleration from a stop, though it lacks a bit in midrange punch. It's smooth and works well with the 5-speed automatic transmission, well enough that the costlier and more complex 6-speed isn't needed, reserved instead for the sportier turbo.

The turbocharged engine has more midrange power than the base engine, making passing a much easier prospect. Power builds smoothly from a standstill. The 6-speed automatic transmission shifts well and adapts well to different driving situations with impressive torque at low engine speeds.

The base engine is EPA rated at 20 mpg city/28 mpg highway. You pay for the extra power in the 2.3-liter turbo, with fuel mileage of 17/24 mpg with FWD and a lackluster 15/21 mpg with AWD.

Even though it's been around since 2007, the Mazda CX-7 sports the latest version of Mazda's styling theme, and it still looks sleek and fresh. The interior makes no less of a statement than the exterior. Some design features work well, others not so well. Overall, the CX-7 interior seems chunky and a bit complicated, not as friendly and functional as the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4.

In the interior of the Mazda hit the CR-V and RAV4 legroom in the front seat and rear seat headroom, but there is at least the legroom in the rear seats is a substantial two inches with 36.4 inches. Kia Sportage hit the CX-7 also, with 37.9 inches. The cargo space with rear seats folded, the CX-7 is a distant third behind Honda and Toyota, but the Kia wins.

Over rough pavement, the suspension is firm without being rigid, but sharp bumps can be severe. And despite good engine compartment and underbody insulation, transmit tire road noise in the cabin, which is also very quiet. We found the CX-7 AWD worked reasonably well on paved roads.

car_review-Volvo_C30_T5-2011

Both come with a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine rated at 227 horsepower and a choice of 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic Geartronic with Auto-stick. The C30 uses front-wheel drive.

Fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 21/30 mpg City/Highway with the automatic, 21/29 mpg with the manual gearbox.

The 2011 C30 T5 R-Design features a retuned suspension aimed at sharpening chassis dynamics and steering reflexes. Spring stiffness has been increased by 30 percent while the dampers feature a new mono-tube design that build-up pressure quicker for 20 percent increased low-speed damping. Steering is more precise with stiffer bushings and a 10 percent quicker steering ratio.

Youthful and fun to drive, the C30 is Volvo's best handling car. It has good steering feel, stays flat in corners, and is nimble enough to slice through traffic. The turbocharged five-cylinder engine provides plenty of punch to keep the fun coming. Ride quality is generally good, though it can become a little hard with the available 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the 2011 Volvo C30 T5 offers a pleasant cabin, roomy enough for four people. The standard cloth upholstery is a unique fabric that resembles the combination of materials. Room at the front is plentiful, and the controls are easy to find and use. The body style two-door in the back seat takes a little nuisance, but the rear seat is comfortable for two passengers. The rear seats fold down to create an area of great tailgate, with great capacity.

Overall, the 2011 Volvo C30 T5  is an attractive premium compact equipment, and cut useful and fun to drive. The C30 is equipped with Volvo's safety features and security techniques is loaded.

Car Review: 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche - 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche adds a standard transfer case for 2-speed 4WD LTZ, body-color mirrors LS, which is available 20-inch chrome wheels and three new exterior colors: Steel Blue Metallic, Mocha and Steel Metallic Blaze Orange Metallic. -car review

ConsumerReports.org: 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche is a full-size truck equipment cabin with a cabin bed and unified. This allows an innovative partition can be folded to expand the landfill at the rear of the cabin. The ride is comfortable and quiet. The 5.3-liter V8 provides decent acceleration but is thirsty. There is a large blind zone defense. -car review

Professional: 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche moves and handles very well. It is comfortable and both my wife and I really like. There. In fact, this is our third avalanche.-car review

Consumer: There are two things about 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche: access to the truck bed is difficult for my wife because she is only 5 feet tall. Our Avalanche was the first step in a footprint in the bumper that you could use to help acessing back. The last two avalanches. Chevrolet needs to solve the problem. Ford, for example, has solved this problem with a folding ladder arrangement, which helps when the tailgate is down. Fuel consumption can be improved. -car review

Nissan-Murano-2011
Car Review - 2011 Nissan Murano; The Nissan Murano 2011 is updated with a redesigned grille, new front bumper, new taillights and new 18-inch aluminum alloy. Inside the Murano adds new color and finish of the center console wood grain new Murano LE. The redesigned 2009 Murano, Nissan Murano 2011 has a nicer interior, standard ESC, and a more comfortable ride. Its 3.5-liter V6 is powerful and offers respectable fuel economy. The management remains flexible and secure. The interior is elegant and functional. However, limited rear visibility, and the premium fuel recommended major drawbacks. IIHS crash test results are impressive.

Paul Hagger: It's true that the Nissan Murano is a worthy competitor to the best-in-class small SUVs, but I was surprised to find it less sporty than its Infiniti FX35 cousin. The Murano has hints of trucklike ability. The tall sidewalls mean that it wallows a bit in the corners. The engine has the lazy throttle response of one tuned to pull a lot of weight, and you'll need to push the gas pedal down quite far when you want the Murano to accelerate briskly. The interior is definitely not trucklike, though. The seats are comfortable, the materials are very nice and there's plenty of space. The Nissan Murano should be on your short list, along with the Ford Edge and the Kia Sorrento. @car review

Nissan's Murano was one of the first crossover SUVs, and it continues to be one of the best at combining the attributes of an SUV with the driving dynamics of a sport sedan. Based on the same platform as the midsize Altima sedan, the Murano is balanced and responsive, making it a great all-around vehicle for practical, everyday use. Powered by Nissan's award-winning 3.5-liter V6 engine, the Murano has plenty of get-up-and-go, and the continuously variable transmission works well in this application. I also like the new design — it is fresh but remains true to the original — and the interior is well thought-out, skewing more upscale than the outgoing model. –Mike Meredith

Perry Stern: It can not be crazy about the look of the Murano, but it is one of the best five-passenger crossover on the market. The cargo area offers a wide range of public services, and the rear seat can actually handle three without feeling terribly close. And unlike many crosses, the Murano is really fun to drive. There are a lot of energy on tap, and continuously variable transmission is one of the best in the business, trying to keep the engine in the sweet spot for better performance. I do not expect the CVT would also improve fuel economy, but could not get my average over 18 mpg in mixed driving. The handling is difficult for a crossover, but with good management, so an excellent choice for Murano someone in the crossover market that needs a little more, but I do not want to go to a 7-seater model. @car review

Audi-A5-2011
2011 Audi A5 - Car Review; 2011 Audi A5 will continue unchanged for model year 2010. The Base A5 is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder. The handling is agile. The cabin is quiet and comfortable. S5 Coupe gets a 4.2-liter V8, while the convertible uses a new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine. Rear seats are tight for two adults. Convertibles are well-insulated soft, which can be used at low speeds.

Paul Hagger: After a few days with 2011 Audi A5, I went from being indifferent to being quite a fan of the sporty 4-door. Although the A5 doesn't have any headline-grabbing features — it's no powerhouse, its looks are sophisticated but perhaps a little conservative, and it's fuel-efficient, but not unusually so. However, everything gels very nicely. By perfectly matching together every system, Audi has made the A5 into the best long-distance cruiser I've ever driven. And just as the driver never feels stressed, neither do the car's components. The A5 feels like it can run forever and give year after year of smiles. –Car Review

Mike Meredith: Audi's A5 is one of the most beautiful cars on the road today, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 under its hood is one of the world's best engines. The vehicle feels nimble and quick on its feet, steering is precise with good feel, and the quattro all-wheel drive balances the overall package quite nicely. A little extra power from a standstill might be nice, but once the A5 is moving, the broad torque curve of the turbo 4-cylinder combined with the 8-speed automatic delivers plenty of power whenever you need it. And it does so with great fuel economy — 24 mpg combined. The interior quality is what you would expect from Audi, and everything in the cockpit is oriented toward the driver. The Audi A5 2.0 TFSI is one of those cars that is very easy to get comfortable with. I'd love to drive it every day. –Car Review

Perry Stern: With its wide grille with curves, the A5 is a new image for Audi. Our test car added a bright red with high level of sporting alloy wheels. However, it seems to provide a level of expectation of performance that is not fully recovered. The 2.0T engine makes the car feel very sexy looking a bit low-power, which is a pity, because the A5 works very well with strong leadership and a smooth ride. On the plus side, I see energy efficiency in the mid-20 in city driving. -Car Review

Toyota-4Runner-2011
Car Review: 2011 Toyota 4Runner - 2011 Toyota 4Runner is good for towing and off-road driving, but not the best substitute for the family car. A rugged 4.0-liter V6 sound is powerful and relatively fuel. efficient Tour turbulent and handling is poor. Version "Trail" is designed for serious off-road riding. Its 4WD system is a primitive of part-time system , unless you upgrade to the Limited trim. Third-row seats are optional.

Professional and Consumer Review:

Professional: I just traded my 2001 SR5 for a 2011 SR5 and so far I love it. The ECO light reminds me to accelerate a little bit more gently which is a plus for the $$ of gas today at $4 for reg unleaded. Stereo system is fantastic. Ride is smooth and quiet. Transmission has a great feel! The Bluetooth cellphone capabilities are fantastic - NY State just added 2 points to any cellphone violation while driving, so I can't speak highly enough about the technology.

Consumer: I found a small spot of rust on the rear bezel. I do not expect that all vehicles with less than 6K miles. For handling in curves, not too high. Enter the fast corners, I think, because it really makes a / as soft costs, but adjusted to the turns more slowly. In general, the truck is driving me a little more civilized than I should anyway. Backup mirror is a bit overrated ... is good when back in the garage to make sure I'm all the way without hitting the wall. This is a truck and the steps would probably be very useful, especially when the roof cleaning or storage of equipment in the transport of goods. @car review

Ford-Edge-2011
Car Review: 2011 Ford Edge - The 2011 Ford Edge receives updated exterior styling, new engines and a revised interior. The exterior design is bold and fluid, with a wide grille, lower front fascia and spoiler. For 2011, Edge is powered by a 285-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 or the first application of the new Ford EcoBoost 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Edge Sport is powered by a 305 hp 3.7-liter V6 engines are mated to all with 6-speed automatic transmission. Edge Sport includes 22-inch wheels of polished aluminum grille with black accents Tuxedo, Tuxedo Black, smoked headlights, smoked taillights, moldings, body color and chrome oval exhaust.

Paul Haggis: I've been a fan of the Ford Edge. The suspension is high enough so you can travel in the worst weather or conditions, but still low enough to be comfortable on paved roads. And as a four-wheel drive, the advantage can handle something that I never had to face. But as a front-wheel drive, which seems a little absurd. The interior is a perfect blend of space, utility and comfort to me. It is very luxurious, but not decadent. The product of many compromises, I'm always pleasantly surprised that the Edge is able to satisfy me. I would choose the edge over most other SUVs. And the brilliant Ford SYNC entertainment system is just icing on the cake.

Mike Meredith: The 2011 Ford Edge has been updated with a larger grille and a new front fascia to keep it fresh. The new 285-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission provides plenty of power, but I recommend to go with all-wheel drive option, not the standard front-wheel drive. The Edge is too big to feel the power going to the front wheels - you get some torque steer when accelerating hard, especially when cornering. It feels much more balanced with the power distributed to the four corners. The interior has also been improved, including shortcut buttons for the center console and two adjustable driver displays in the instrument cluster. Gone are the clunky square wheel spoke, replaced by a new three-spoke wheels that have a better feeling. One complaint: The headrests are designed to improve safety, but the way they force the driver's head rather than creating an uncomfortable driving position.

Perry Stern: the Ford Edge has been updated for 2011, as well as look and feel, and did a good job. Styling-wise, the Edge receives a bolder grille revised headlights, when the crossover a sportier look. 2011 Inside Edge has been updated with a new dashboard and steering wheel as well as new entertainment system Ford MyFord Touch. All controls are smooth - no key - which gives the instrument panel and a high-tech look. Unfortunately, I found the controls a little 'too sensitive at times were too sensitive, sometimes not at all. Edge gets more power in 2011 with fuel economy. I achieved 20 mpg in the city, which is a powerful vehicle of this size. Overall, the Edge is still an excellent choice for 5-passenger crossover market.

In August, reviewing the Genesis Coupe, I mentioned that Hyundai’s new deluxe Genesis sedan had been named the North American Car of the Year for 2009; and fortunately the Coupe wasn’t available then or it might have deadlocked the jury. Which one to pick? A better question might be, how can these two cars even be related? The two-door is a hooligan’s delight; the four-door not only looks

hyundai-sonata-2011
Car Review: 2011 Hyundai Sonata - Paul Hagger: Hyundai Sonata continues the modern tradition of Hyundai to compete at all levels, even if it can be a star in any field. It's cheaper than the comparable Toyota and Honda competition, but has an engine that is in every way and an interior that is actually a little better. The Sonata is a pleasure to drive and offers a friendly and sophistication, I've never met a Hyundai before.

Perry Stern: The all-new Hyundai Sonata is one of the best family sedans on the market. The new design is large enough to distinguish it from its competitors while ignoring unusual. The interior of the car is very clean with quality materials and control simple and straightforward. With a fuel consumption rating of 35 mpg highway and the removal of a V6 engine available, I was pleasantly surprised that the power does not fail at all. The 200-horsepower 4-cylinder with automatic transmission 6-speed is all you need for most situations. But the best part of the Sonata is fantastic. A nice looking family sedan with plenty of space for luggage and passengers, Bluetooth, navigation, automatic transmission and a 10-year, 100,000 km Warranty for $ 24K is an incredible deal.

Considerations

Every car dealer has to worry about the criteria used car purchase and maintain a good sales staff during the execution of its business. Car dealers that buy used vehicles generally use the sequences of tests, inspections and formulas based on Kelley Blue Book values to determine the trade in and purchase prices. The highly competitive automotive sales led to high turnover, which makes a group of sellers to determine the dealer's business. The interior space can vary considerably from dealer to dealer if the dealer has a standard waiting area, exhibition hall, reception room, garage and parts department. Additional space for customer parking, courtesy van and storage of rental cars and loading areas require high-volume sellers with daily traffic.

5 Tips to Become a Successful Car Sales Representative - Sales of cars can be very lucrative. Not only is the new sales account for more than half of total income by dealers, but also lead to sales on the secondary market, such as extended warranties, repair services and trade-ins on the road. If you think that is what keeps the wheels turning in this area, as well as becoming a car salesman.

5 Tips to Become a Successful Car Sales Representative:
  1. Choose a reputable dealer when you buy your vehicle new or used. Often, one of the best ways to get your foot in the door to become a sales representative car is a valued customer. Most retailers want to show you the ropes and maybe even hire you to one of their vendors.
  2. Past experience in sales or customer service-related industries may have worked to become a car salesman. Strong interpersonal skills are the key to success, as well as being able to follow the service and treatment is often denied.
  3. Plan to invest in your wardrobe when you become a car sales representative. In fact, most car sales representatives come to work every day in business suit, or at least a thin layer of sport, pressed trousers and polished shoes. Of course, a selection of links to the taste is also required.
  4. Check the products they sell. One of the keys to selling a car is to know everything about it. This includes the option, any updates to the engine or tires, and interior packages. Other options you know, the more you sell.
  5. Be aware that being a sales representative car is more than just selling cars. Besides the car itself, needs a sales representative about the car warranty options different for each vehicle and the financing plans available.

Law About Private Used Car Sales in Michigan - Unlike new car sales, sales of used cars in Michigan much less protections and restrictions that apply to the transaction. While private parties can sell their cars that they choose, buyers should be aware that private sales are largely at the request of the parties concerned. Although the parties may agree on the modalities of their choice, the law imposes minimum taxes on each party in a sale of private cars.

New Title

As with all other vehicles, used car dealers should be able to transfer the vehicle title to the buyer. Privileges, such as those held by a bank or other lending institution, should be released by the holder of the privilege before the title can be transferred. Although not required, the Michigan Department of State recommends that the buyer and seller go to the Secretary of State to complete the transfer of the domain. In any case, the title should be transferred within 15 days from the date of purchase to avoid late fees. The buyer must pay sales tax when the new title is requested or provide evidence that the sales tax was paid.

Selling Proof

When the car is sold between the parties, in Michigan, the seller is protected against damages caused to the buyer once the buyer as proof of sale. For example, if the buyer sells the vehicle to a person who then immediately take a car accident and cause damage to third parties, the buyer can protect himself against the claim by a third party is to maintain an appropriate certificate of sale . Even if the seller still has car insurance, which is selling the car, he can avoid taking the responsibility to prove the sale was completed.

Ensure protection

Unlike the cars sold at dealerships, private car sales, Michigan, is considered "as is" sales, or the seller gives no guarantee to the buyer. For example, the so-called "lemon law", Michigan protects new car buyers of cars with persistent or recurrent defects. Car Parts Sales: car-less driving isn’t half as thrilling for battery firms - No cars, no life. Sales of two-wheeled vehicles may continue to grow at a healthy pace, but the cars behind, the spark seems to have left the life of the battery manufacturers ... uh, toplines.

"Batteries for two-wheelers account for only 10% of our total sales. Segment, despite all the growth you can get for a period of slow economic growth can not offset the slowdown in the passenger car category," said PK Kataky, Director Automotive, Exide Industries, DNA.

Exide is the market leader in automotive batteries, a segment that represents almost half of total battery sales in the country, according to unconfirmed estimates.

The entire fiscal year, sales of two-wheeled vehicles has increased to 26% of the 11,790,305 units, the back of car sales in the DAT, which has grown by over 29%.

But so far this tax, the sale of four wheels - the main supporter of the sale of the battery - it does not matter. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam), sees the two-wheeler sales to grow 15-18% this fiscal, as he prepares to reduce its projected four wheels is increasing fuel bills and rising rates of car financing.

In May, Hero Honda Motors reported a 14.7% growth in sales of 500,234 units, while its rivals Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co. saw its sales increase by 18% to 181,891 units and 3,17,989 units respectively, the overall segment sales increased 14.5% to 1,072,287 units.

Car sales, however, recorded the slowest pace in 24 months in May, according to SIAM. At 158,817 units, domestic sales of passenger cars increased by only 7%. Output of commercial vehicles and medium and heavy vehicles with three wheels, also slowed, with sales up 8.62% and 8.6% to 24,863 units and 35,991 units respectively.

No wonder the battery manufacturers feel grumpy.

"Changing the battery in the wheel is almost once every two years. The cost of the battery is too much about ¤ 3600. In the two-wheeled vehicle with starting the habit is a much more because the operation of the battery is different.

Cost is also RS1, 000 battery, "said Ramana Prasad Alam, Amara Raja Batteries charge" of automotive batteries.

Manufacturers of batteries, two-wheeled push-start model requires a different type of batteries that are more critical in nature and require support services in quality from start to traditional models.

The manufacturing process for the launch and push-starting varieties is not very different, said Exide is Kataky. "We need some minor changes in the configuration to move the kick-off at the push start models."

Teens, No Focus While Driving: Survey - car insurance news; With the approach of the July 4 holiday, a recent survey found sobering facts on teens distracted driving, especially in summer when they tend to run more. A survey at 2300 teenagers across the country reveals a trend of inattention while driving, mainly because of distractions while driving.

The survey prepared by the Liberty Mutual Insurance and students against destructive decisions indicate that the summer months are the worst, because more teenagers driving during the holiday months.

2011_volkswagen_jetta_car_review
Car Review - 2011 Volkswagen Jetta: After years of trying to obtain compact sedan to dress the part, Volkswagen has finally managed to naturalize the Jetta. This German 4-door now wears a suit that is required to reach an agreement with the notoriously conservative American masses, and is priced car that buyers are much more attractive, thanks to a lot of things cost reduction. However, these changes occur at a price themselves.

Model Lineup: Volkswagen is offering the 2011 Jetta in four trim levels, from bare-bones to dressed-to-the-nines. Eventually a fifth model, the performance-oriented GLI, will join them on showroom floors. Things get started at S trim, featuring 15-inch wheels and not much else; cloth seats and soul-crushing hard plastic dominate the cabin. Fortunately, stepping up to SE trim takes care of a few of those issues. Stylish 16-inch rollers take the place of the smaller 15-inch wheels, and leatherette seating surfaces show up inside. The interior also receives a small dress-up package in the form of chrome accents around the climate-control knobs.

You can also adorn your Jetta SE with a convenience package that throws in amenities such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a more civilized 6-speaker sound system, though we would be just as likely to opt for the SEL trim. This next step up throws in all of the goodies found in the SE convenience package, but adds hardware such as a fog lights, 17-inch wheels, keyless entry and a navigation system.

At the top of the lineup is the TDI. It's basically a Jetta SE with disc brakes on all four corners and an uberefficient diesel engine.

Under the Hood: Volkswagen has added a new engine to the Jetta lineup for next year. Starting in 2011, you can get your sedan with a 2.0-liter 115-horsepower 4-cylinder engine that produces around 125 lb-ft of torque. The new engine is part of the company's plan to lower the price tag, and it comes bolted to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic. While the Environmental Protection Agency hasn't issued fuel-economy figures for the new engine yet, Volkswagen promises somewhere around 24 mpg city/34 mpg highway.

If the little 2.0-liter doesn't serve up quite enough punch for you, Volkswagen is also offering the same 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine found in the previous generation. For next year, buyers will have the choice of the same two gearboxes offered with the 4-cylinder engine. Either way, they can expect the 2.5-liter to churn out a more respectable 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, all while returning just 1 mpg worse on the highway.

The company's endearing 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine will also make a return for 2011. It produces 140 horsepower and a ridiculous 236 lb-ft of torque, making it feel significantly larger than its diminutive displacement would suggest. Expect to see around 30 mpg city/42 mpg highway when equipped with either the 6-speed manual or 6-speed direct-shift gearbox.

As we mentioned above, the GLI will likely debut later in the year, featuring the Jetta engine that we've come to love, the 2.0 TFSI.

Inner Space: Volkswagen has proudly proclaimed that the 2011 Jetta was designed to be more in line with American tastes; the company stretched the sedan's wheelbase by 3 inches to add interior room front and rear. Full-grown adults can now comfortably camp out in the back seat without having to fold their shins or collapse a few vertebrae. That doesn't mean things are all sugar and spice in the cabin.

To begin with, the dash has lost the nice soft-touch material of the last generation, in favor of hard plastic in S trim. Why? Volkswagen is looking to do away with the dreaded "European car premium" that U.S. consumers have to pay for its cars. And the cost of this lower price tag is a less-than-savory interior. In this case, the cabin is borderline cheap. The new switches and knobs aren't what we've come to expect from Volkswagen, either. Flipping through the climate controls, we couldn't help but pine for the weighty clicks of the old hardware.

That said, plop your derrière in the leatherette-lined goodness of SEL trim and it's easy to forget about the cost-cutting measures. With the leather-wrapped steering wheel firmly in your palms and a comfy bucket seat beneath you, there's little to complain about inside. Throw in the extra legroom and it's easy to believe that some sacrifices may actually be worth the net savings.

On the Road: We were able to nab some time in the 2011 Jetta SEL, complete with the company's 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. In this guise, it's difficult to find fault with the drivetrain. Of course, there shouldn't be one. Volkswagen has had years to perfect this particular concoction, and as a result, you're rewarded with a powertrain that's almost perfect — almost. The 170-horsepower engine provides just enough low-end grunt to dispatch with foes in the right lane without too much heavy breathing. At the same time, torque steer is nonexistent. Despite the uniquely torquey feel of the 5-cylinder, zero to 60 mph shuffles by in 8.6 seconds — not exactly rocket-quick.

Things have gone downhill somewhat on the handling front, though. In another effort to keep the cost down, Volkswagen opted for a torsion-beam rear suspension instead of an expensive, fully independent setup. Whereas the previous-generation car could be coaxed into being entertaining while carving through your favorite mountain passes, the 2011 model is more content to amble from point A to point B.

Volkswagen has also changed the hydraulic power steering system by 2010 - a move that generally produces more steering feel. Only instead of getting more feedback from the helm, we are rewarded with much less. It feels like electricity, and the truth is that the previous car felt a plumber. Of course, it is important to remember that Volkswagen does not build the fans of this Jetta. The company has designed the U.S. average car buyer - a group that is more concerned about the number of cup holders as the steering feel. -- car review --
