CAR REVIEW | Chevrolet | The Chevrolet, or Chevy, is one of automobile brands produced by General Motors Company (GM). Chevrolet was founded by Louis Chevrolet and ousted William C. Durant, the founder of General Motors on 11/3/1911. General Motors (GM) acquired Chevrolet in 1918. The Chevy was positioned by Alfred Sloan to sell a lineup of mainstream vehicles to directly compete against Henry Ford's Model T in the 1920s, with "Chevrolet" or "Chevy" being at times synonymous with GM. Chevrolet sells and produces a wide variety of automobiles in North America, from subcompact vehicles to medium-duty commercial trucks.

In 1912, when Durant sold the Chevy shares to McLaughlin, Durant had an idea that McLaughlin was in full production building McLaughlin Cars with Buick power trains (15 year contract Durant had with McLaughlin). Durant felt he could have McLaughlin do with Chevrolet what he did with Buick, and had McLaughlin build his Chevys as well.

Starting in 1915 in 1916, Durant and the McLaughlin Brothers had traded Chevrolet stock at 5 to 1 and 7 to 1 and took over General Motors holding Company. McLaughlin had no worry about his Buick contract when Billy was back at the helm. General Motors started in Canada in November 20, 1907, McLaughlin and Durant started their company General Motors Holding Company in the USA September 16, 1908. McLaughlin is never addressed by the Ken Kaufmann papers or build documents but takes credit for the Bow Tie information published years before.

McLaughlin started the truck the 1919 Chevrolet and General Motors in 1916 became a public company. McLaughlin traded at $ 500,000.00 Buick that had shares traded during the McLaughlin stock on November 20, 1907. This investment by McLaughlin McLaughlin and Durant gave greater ownership of General Motors and Chevrolet in Canada is building the Chevrolet. Chevrolet Camaro | Car Review | Chevrolet Camaro is a car manufactureD by General Motors (GM) with the Chevrolet brand, classified as a pony car, and some versions as muscle cars. It 'went on sale September 29, 1966 for 1967 model year and was designed as rival model to Ford Mustang. Car shared the platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced in 1967.

Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived again on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009. The car was also featured in Transformers, as a main character named Bumblebee.

Before any official announcement, reports began running during April 1965 within the automotive press that Chevrolet was preparing a competitor to the Ford Mustang, code-named Panther. On June 21, 1966, around 200 automotive journalists received a telegram from General Motors stating, "...Please save noon of June 28 for important SEPAW meeting. Hope you can be on hand to help scratch a cat. Details will follow...(signed) John L. Cutter – Chevrolet Public Relations – SEPAW Secretary." The following day, the same journalists received another General Motors telegram stating, "Society for the Eradication of Panthers from the Automotive World will hold first and last meeting on June 28...(signed) John L. Cutter – Chevrolet Public Relations SEPAW Secretary." These telegrams puzzled the automotive journalists.

On June 28, 1966, General Motors (GM) held a live press conference in Detroit’s Statler-Hilton Hotel. It would be the first time in history that 14 cities were hooked up in real time for a press conference via telephone lines. Chevrolet General Manager Pete Estes started the news conference stating that all attendees of the conference were charter members of the Society for the Elimination of Panthers from the Automotive World and that this would be the first and last meeting of SEPAW. Estes then announced a new car line, project designation XP-836, with a name that Chevrolet chose in keeping with other car names beginning with the letter C such as the Corvair, Chevelle, Chevy II, and Corvette. He claimed the name, "suggests the comradeship of good friends as a personal car should be to its owner" and that "to us, the name means just what we think the car will do... Go!" The new Camaro name was then unveiled. Automotive press asked Chevrolet product managers, "What is a Camaro?" and were told it was "a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs."

Camaro was introduced for the first time in a press preview in Detroit, Michigan, September 12, 1966, and later in Los Angeles, California, September 19, 1966. Camaro officially goes on sale in dealerships in September 29, 1966 FOR 1967 model year. - CAR REVIEW

Chevrolet Corvette | Car Review | The Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors (GM) that has been produced in six generations. The first model, a convertible, was designed by Harley Earl and introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car. Myron Scott is credited for naming the car after the type of small, maneuverable warship called corvette. Originally built in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette is currently built in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is the official sports car of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The National Corvette Museum documents the car's worldwide history and hosts the annual event.

After six long and beautiful generations, the Chevrolet Corvette is just as much a hot commodity as it was in 1953 when the first concept was rolled out for all to see. This American-made sports car comes in four different trims: Standard, Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1.

The standard Corvette and the Grand Sport are both powered by a 6.2L V8 engine that pumps out 430hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. Add the upgraded exhaust system and the models get 436hp and 425 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Sport differentiates itself from the standard model with a few upgrades, Z06 styling cues, and its won gear and rear-axle ratios. The Corvette Z06 is powered by a 7.0L V8 engine producing 505hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and the newer ZR1 boasts a 6.2L supercharged V8 delivering 638hp and 604 lb-ft of torque to the table. - CAR REVIEW

Top 2 Car Sales in the US 2011: Ford F-series, Chevrolet Silverado pickups | Car Sales | Japan earthquake in March left many car dealers in the United States hassling for cars, but the Honda Accord and Toyota  Camry continue to top the chart of auto sales in six months.

In the first half of 2011, keep the Chevrolet Silverado pickups and Ford F-Series the No. 2 and No. 1  in car sales. But Japanese manufacturers have positions 3 to 6.

ConsumerReports.org: 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche is a full-size truck equipment cabin with a cabin bed and unified. This allows an innovative partition can be folded to expand the landfill at the rear of the cabin. The ride is comfortable and quiet. The 5.3-liter V8 provides decent acceleration but is thirsty. Consumer: There are two things about 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche: access to the truck bed is difficult for my wife because she is only 5 feet tall. Chevrolet  Volt and Nissan Leaf: Obama wants one million electric cars on the US road in 2015; A Million Electric Vehicles: Back in January, during his State of the Union speech, President Obama said that he wanted the U.S. to “become the first country to have one million electric cars on the US road,” and he wanted it to happen by 2015. Given current sales of the Chevrolet  Volt and Nissan Leaf, the president may hit his target . . . sometime in 2064.

In May, U.S. car sales for the much-hyped Chevrolet Volt totaled 481. Nissan Leaf did better, with 1,142 units sold. That’s a grand total of 1,623 electric cars sold for the month. At that torrid rate, it will take about 639 months, or a bit more than 53 years, for domestic sales of electric cars to reach 1 million.
